About

Listening is a beginning.

Psychoanalytic Music brings songs and ideas into conversation.

The project

Created by Austin Wilmot, this project pairs a collection of psychoanalytically informed songs with a growing reference library. The music offers an experience; the notes offer another way to listen.

Some entries turn toward parenting and caregiving. Others consider the emotional life of clinical work, loss, or the humor of trying to understand ourselves. Together they make room for curiosity without requiring a single correct interpretation.

How to use the library

Start with the song library, follow an idea through the concept index, or explore a collection. Song pages connect listening notes, questions, and related entries.

About this edition

This is an editorial preview. Song interpretations are illustrative drafts, not quotations from lyrics or verified accounts of the artist’s intentions. “After the Hard Moment” and “You Can Be Angry Here” are proposed sample titles. Collection names are working editorial groupings. Listening links will be added when releases are available.

Music and clinical practice

This is an independent creative and educational project. It does not provide psychotherapy or establish a therapeutic relationship. Information about Austin’s psychotherapy practice is available separately at austinwilmot.com.
